WK 3
A fantastic week with a fantastic class.
We have had a trying first few weeks completing our baseline tests but our class persevered with a smile on their face.
The students of P3 have great attitudes, a fun competitive spirit and the drive to do their best.
We will have a fantastic year with a lot of laughs and lots to learn and enter high school with eyes wide open ready and willing to go!
2016 is our year!!!

Maths Inquiry Term 2 Up date
MATHS
So pleased after the basic facts test. All my students have improved with most moving up a level. My inquiry group have mixed results. 1 did not change levels, the others did though are still not at the multiplicative level for yr 8. More time is needed with my group though at the same time I am painfully aware of the time needed for my whole class to ensure they are at the right level by the end of yr 8.
A.L.L. Update - Term 2
ALL
Great progress already.
Students have shown greater confidence in their own abilities and are happy to ask questions.
Very keen for me to ‘check’ their latest piece of work, to see if individual areas have improved.
Luke is still very quiet when it comes to writing. The other boys enjoyed bouncing ideas off each
other to brain storm their groups’ story. I needed to ask Luke individual questions to draw him
into the group discussion. He didn’t seem uncomfortable or unhappy, just happy to listen.
Next steps:
To continue group story as timetable group time at least once a week.
21 Sep - A.L.L. Reflection
ALL was initially a struggle as I was unsure how best to accelerate students. I knew how to move students forward but could I do it at the speed required? As we head toward the end of this stage of the journey I am pleased with how the group has worked out. Their excitement for writing is palpable. The want to write and write and absorb what is given to them. I believe the key has been the small group, my constant feedback and their ‘captive’ audience, peers to talk to and share with who are all there for the same reason and working toward the same goal.
One student is now writing without needing to be prompted. She has used it to express her imagination and issues from home. She has moved forward 2 levels and so keen to continue to grow and develop her skills. The excitement from this group has spilled to the classroom. My students all want writing time and with the most recent writing task a student who has struggled with writing, blaming his dyslexia received a grade at level 4. He literally bounced around the room so excited wanting a copy to take home to his parents.
ALL has been a great opportunity for myself, learning little steps can have a great effect, and the awakening of my students who had given up on writing but now enjoy it, impatient to write more each day.

HOMEWORK WEEK 1
We have almost ironed out the problems with www.kiwikids.com we are 1 step away and the your tamariki can start! I will let you will as soon as I know.
All the students should have their maths booklets now. I have given them 10 pages with the guidelines that a minimum of 1 sheet to be done. I have provided 3 levels of work so if your child is struggling or in need of something more testing please let me know. They can also work ahead and I will continue to provide them with the practise sheets as needed.
We've had a pretty busy first term already and I am looking forward to the next 10 weeks!
